Position Summary:
Management Systems International (MSI) is now taking applications for its Fall Internship Program.

MSI’s Internship program is for individuals who have an interest and prior experience in international development. Interns will work in MSI’s Project Management Unit. The goal of the internship program is to allow interns to learn and grow professionally. The internship will provide each individual an opportunity to use and refine his/her own skills. MSI works to ensure that interns are well-engaged in the MSI work community.

As often as possible, we match interns with projects that best suit both their skills and interests. Internships last up to 32 hours/week and include a stipend. Applicants residing or attending school in DC are preferred. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. This is a paid position.

Responsibilities:
Upon arrival at MSI, interns are given a brief orientation introducing them to some of the tools that they will need for their internship. Project Management interns are assigned to work on specific MSI projects as well as support tasks primarily focusing on logistical, contractual and financial management. Typical tasks may include:

  • Tracking project financial management information;
  • Research budget information;
  • Reviewing field expense reports;
  • Coordinating international travel arrangements;
  • Basic translation of documents;
  • Background research to support projects;
  • Copy editing for donor reports; and,
  • Database manipulation.

Qualifications:
Key skills to a successful internship at MSI are:

  • Keen interest in international development;
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize within a multi-tasking environment;
  • Diplomatic communication skills particularly by email;
  • Team focused approach;
  • Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel;
  • Additional skills of interest are secondary language skills – French, Spanish, Russian or Arabic; IT/web development, training, etc.)

CIPE – Global Programs Full-time Position

Program Assistant, Global Programs

The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) is seeking candidates for the position of Program Assistant, Global Programs. As part of a team reporting to Director for Policy Reform, this position is responsible for providing programmatic and administrative support. The Global Department implements multiregional programs focusing on key CIPE issues, including anti-corruption, corporate governance, democratic reform, advocacy, and others. The ideal candidate will be able to handle multiple detail-oriented tasks with limited supervision, have a demonstrable interest in international development and democratic and market-oriented reform, and work well with a widely diverse staff.

Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting development and implementation of CIPE global programs
  • Coordinating outreach for CIPE global programs
  • Handling project administration, including invoices and contracts
  • Assisting in logistics, including event planning and travel arrangements
  • Adhering to appropriate CIPE, NED, and USAID policies and procedures

Additional duties may include:

  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of CIPE’s websites
  • Assisting in the development of brochures, flyers, and other print and electronic materials
  • Drafting content for the website, quarterly newsletter, or other CIPE publications
  • Providing research assistance
  • Drafting project proposals and reports
  • Editing articles, policy papers, and other publications
  • Drafting and monitoring project budgets

Position requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or 2-3 years of equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of office/administrative experience
  • Demonstrated writing, proofreading, and research skills
  • Strong interest in and understanding of international development and topics consistent with CIPE mission
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Web development and publication design skills, including familiarity with Adobe Indesign and Dreamweaver, are preferred
  • Ability to handle multiple, detail-oriented tasks with limited supervision
  • Foreign language helpful but not required – Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish preferred
